Lander FIND Project

Summit Engineering has been retained by the Lander County Sustainable Development Committee in Northern Nevada to provide support services in the form of an assessment of the existing infrastructure in an area of more than 1.5 million acres.  This assessment is being provided through Bureau of Land Management grants in association with the LCSDC.  The committee is comprised of local representatives from federal and local agencies, mining companies, and economic development interests across a 250-mile stretch of Interstate 80 in Northern Nevada.

The committee is charged with providing for future social, economic and environmental development of small communities in Northern Nevada.  Historically, the communities in the area have been subject to the vagaries of the mining industry, with boom or bust coming in irregular cycles.   Their goals include sustainable development with a strong renewable energy component.

Lander County Infrastructure Inventory

Summit is providing professional services in support of Sustainable Development for the Lander Economic Development Authority.  Their objective is to diversify the economy in an environmentally responsible manner to provide long term economic benefits to the citizens of their county.

Services provided include mapping of the existing infrastructure and facilities for a county the size of the state of Connecticut.  Using the industry leading GIS software package, Summit is on task to deliver a critical component for the marketing and future Sustainable Development in a rural setting.
